Early testing exposed serious performance problems. For a risk register of this size to support day-to-day governance, management reviews, and ISO 27001 audits, the matrix and dashboard gadgets needed to remain responsive as well as accurate.
03 · The solution
Direct support and a configurable risk model
The customer contacted ProjectBalm support and worked directly with the team to resolve the bottlenecks. Randolph describes “a lively exchange” over several weeks and says, “We always got quick responses from the support,” before the performance issues were solved.
Risk Register also provided the flexibility the programme required. The team can freely choose the number of impact and probability options, configure the exposure value for each field in the matrix, and click any matrix cell to open all matching risks in Jira’s issue navigator.

The resulting dashboard combines scale with practical speed. “Now, our dashboard with two risk matrix gadgets (each containing more than 8,000 risks) renders in about ten seconds,” Randolph reports.
The dashboard is not merely a reporting screen. In Randolph’s words, “a dashboard with risk matrix gadgets is a perfect instrument for meetings with management or audits.”
